Classical training and indie-rock influences make the title of Torontonian Todor Kobakov’s solo piano debut, Pop Music (88 Calibre/Cuto / EMI, October 13), doubly ironic. But linger, and you’ll realize: No song is longer than five minutes, no composition too difficult to love, no melody un-hummable. This is music to give pop a good name. Two tracks are graced by guest vocalists: Emily Haines and TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe. – Sarah Nicole Prickett
