We’re thrilled to announce that Todor is one of  two Canuck composers chosen for the Canadian Film Centre’s SLAIGHT FAMILY MUSIC LAB composer residency. The program brings the CFC’s music, film, and TV residents together with music and screen-based entertainment heavyweights and business and technical professionals. Speaking of heavyweights, as part of the program Todor is being mentored by Mychael Danna, whose brilliant score for LIFE OF PI has won him a Golden Globe trophy and two Academy Award nominations. Danna’s other scores include MONEYBALL, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and CAPOTE. Good luck at the Oscars, Mychael!

In early 2011, Todor was enlisted by k-os, the genre defying and Juno-award winning artist, to collaborate on a new project. The result was “Much Presents: k-os” – a live album recorded during an intimate performance at Toronto’s legendary Masonic Music Temple. Todor created string arrangements for k-os classics including “Zambony”, “Man I Used To Be” and “Emcee Murdah” as well as for “Spraying My Pen” – an unreleased track from k-os’ forthcoming album “Black on Blonde”.  The performance aired nationally on Much Music on October 4, 2011 and featured guest performances from Emily Haines of Metric, Shad, Lights, Saukrates, and Sebastien Grainger of Death From Above 1979. If you missed the Much Music airing, don’t fear, the concert was released as a special CD/DVD combo and is available now in stores and online.

Todor is currently knee deep in to the score which he describes as “a rather dark mix of piano, strings and electronic undertones”.  The film also stars Luke Kirby (who appears with Seth Rogan and Michelle Williams in “Take This Waltz”), Tom Wilkenson (Mission Impossible, Michael Clayton) and Ruth Negga.  Backers include Telefilm Canada, the Harold Greenberg Fund and the Ontario Media Development Corp.  More to come!

Todor has just completed the original score to Cold Blooded, an indie crime thriller helmed by talented first time director Jason Lapeyre and funded by Telefilm Canada. The film stars Ryan Robbins (Leslie, My Name is Evil, Battlestar Galactica), Zoie Palmer (Devil, Lost Girl, Murdoch Mysteries) and William MacDonald (Supernatural, Smallville).  The tension filled feature takes place inside an abandoned hospital unit as a female police officer has to keep a prisoner from escaping at the same time his violent partners come looking for him. It’s a bloody (and beautifully shot) game of cat and mouse – and not for the faint of heart! To preview exclusive clips of the score before the film is released, visit the “score” section of this website.

Monster Brawl featuring Todor’s original score makes it’s world-wide debut tonight at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Quebec. Quentin Tarantino calls Fantasia “The most important and prestigious genre film festival on this continent.” With a varied programming and an emphasis on the imaginative cinema of Asia, Europe and the Americas, Fantasia’s offerings range from unique and powerful personal visions to international commercial crowd-pleasers rarely seen in North-America.
